Oslo, Norway, 12 February

Great Fundraising Organizations was launched to fundraisers in Norway at the Oslo headquarters “living room” of Dekode, Fundraising World’s digital partner, and with support from nonprofit CRM specialists ProFundo.

Alan Clayton presented some “truth-bombs” from his Great Fundraising experience – blunt lessons learned from hundreds of case studies, presented with his practical and humorous style.

He announced that there would be a Great Fundraising Masterclass in Scotland, specifically for Norwegian fundraisers, in February 2026 in partnership with Dekode.

For fundraisers in Norway, the ‘Great Fundraising Organizations’ book is available from ark.no:

Dekode’s CEO Hillevi Rostad shared key lessons from the presentation via LinkedIn:

💪 that purpose is BOSS in fundraising

🏢 the blockers of growth in fundraising in a NGO is largely due to internal issues (organizational structure, lack of focus, leadership, company culture etc)

🌍 that you are not begging for money when fundraising, you are giving people the chance to help make a difference

📖 and a bunch of other things (buy the book)

Alan Clayton was joined in the presentation by Denise Kohn-Aguilera from WWF and Eva Heggesvik from Norges Blindeforbund, sharing their stories.

Communication and Fundraising Director at WWF Norway Ina Therese Toften congratulations her team on being cited as a Great Fundraising Organization in Alan Clayton’s presentation at the Fundraising Norway conference and in his book.

Posting on LinkedIn Line Fauske-Ilstad at Red Cross Norway said:

“Thank you so much for a great Fundraising Conference today Fundraising Norge ! I went home with new inspiration, knowledge and new acquaintances, in addition to chatting with old acquaintances. Just as it should be! I also got the book for Alan Clayton himself (thanks to good Marius Granholt !) which for me was the highlight today…”

Karoliina Nivari, director of domestic cooperation at Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission (Suomen Lähetysseura (Felm)), shared her key lessons from the event:

  • Don’t believe in the superiority of your organisation, but humbly identify with the donor
  • In addition to risk management, the board must be able to dream and set growth targets
  • Communications and donor marketing must be managed separately as they serve different purposes and require different skills
  • The ability to summarise the mission and appeal to emotions is essential for fundraising growth
