International funding opportunities (January 2024)
Here’s a selection of international funding opportunities that close for applications in January 2024.
Some are available globally, others in a particular region or set of countries, and others are specific to a particular country.
Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund
The Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund seeks to empower species conservation efforts and programmes globally, “embodying the deep-rooted commitment of both the government and the people of Abu Dhabi to preserve our natural heritage”.
It was set up in 2008 with an initial endowment of €25,000,000. Since then it has supported over 2,700 projects across 160 countries.
The Fund was established to support species conservation work, and so if your project is not about an endangered species the Fund advises “it is probably not worth your while submitting an application”.
It’s maximum grant is $25,000.
The next application deadlines for 2024 are 29 February, 30 June and 31 October 2024.
LinkedIn Ad Grants
LinkedIn Social Impact has opened applications for the next Ad Grant cohort, offering support to nonprofits through free ads and marketing consultation.
Applications are open from eligible organisations that focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion; economic opportunities for professionals overcoming barriers; and environmental sustainability.
The Ad Grants program offers grants at different times of the year. For this round the grant period is from February – June 2024. Recipients “must have creative assets ready to go and launch their campaigns immediately upon receipt of their grant”. They must spend their grant in full by or before 30 June 2024.
The closing date for applications for this round is 22 January 2024.

The Virginia Prize, the international photography prize for women, is open from 8 January to 7 May 2024.
